I was never comfortable with any of the headship thang. All persons, regardless of gender or race, are "created" equal.

Head of the House?
by cofty ini often see comments by ex-jws that would suggest some men still view themselves as "head of the house".
sometimes comments from women appear to support the idea as well.. how many still see things this way or have you completely got over it?.

New Study Exposes Acupuncture As Pseudoscience
by alecholmesthedetective inbesides it being pseudoscience, what interests me about this is that even though it's something to do with the "qi" energy flowing in our bodies, that wasn't a problem for some members of my family or a special pioneer i knew.. new study exposes acupuncture as pseudoscience.

I always assumed that acupuncture basically mobilised the body's defences because of the insertion of a foreign object,

The END did NOT come in their lifetime!!
by DATA-DOG ini don't know about the rest of you, but i have seen my fair share of death.
both sets of grandparents, aunts and uncles, older jws that were pillars in the community.
i even knew the first missionary in missouri, a brother named gerald golf.

Data dog: My momma was approaching 90 when she exclaimed bitterly that she was never meant to be this old. She was still a JW but, to her credit, had stopped shunning her sons.

if we don't all unite, we may win a few battles but Watchtower will win the WAR.
by excaliber into thank you for taking the time to read this, because i feel that it is extremely important.
over the years we have been waring against the watchtower, and our battle field has been the internet.and we have been very successful in establishing discussion forums and online resorces exposing false teachings and we have used youtube to further shed light on the watchtower, we have even written books to this end.. .
yes we have attacked watchtower at its weakest point, the internet and we have been able to do this as small groups and even individualy.

Newbie posters nearly always want to bring the WT down.
Then they get pissy with the old-timers who can't be arsed with it.

Shunning: How would You Overcome it?
by ABibleStudent inafter reading the thread soon to be 18 and quit speaking to her mother- suggestions?, i started thinking of how to use the wtbts's doctrine to help jws to see what is the real purpose of shunning for the wtbts.
hopefully, some good ideas will be posted to this thread and may help exjws and jws to maintain relationships with each other instead of shunning the non-jws.. how would a jw react to the following?.
do christians shun or not associate with non-jws to help non-jws believe that the wtbts has the "truth", to keep the cong clean of non-believers, or to not be shunned?

This is how I dealt with a neighbour who opted to shun me.
Me: "Why are you shunning me?"
Neighbour: "Because you're disfellowshipped"
Me: "Why was I disfellowshipped?"
Neighbour: "What?"
Me, again: "Why was I disfellowshipped?"
Neighbour: "I don't know why you were disfellowshipped. I don't want to know why you were disfellowshipped!"
Me: "So you're shunning me and you don't even know why you're shunning me? Are you OK with that?"
Neighbour: "Well, I er um....."..and the conversation tails off as he realises how ludicrous it is to pretend that someone doesn't exist and not even know why they're doing it.

Christmas is WRONG!
by thesaint inyou all should be ashamed of your egotistical selves.
how can you leave god's organization to celebrate the work of satan the devil?
it just goes to show you how jehovah's christian witnesses are correct about how persons will leave the truth for their own selfish desires.. first off, christmas is a pagan holiday and it proves no spirit with the almighty jehovah and his son, the christ.

I’ve long believed that the pagan origins of modern day celebrations have little to do with how they should affect us today. Christmas, birthdays, toasting etc etc, are mainly celebrated by folk who haven’t a clue whether or not these customs originated from pagan people. They don’t know, neither do they care, wisely acknowledging that the origins have NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM.
Take the matter of wind chimes. The WT clearly states that the use of wind chimes is a personal decision if the MOTIVE for their use is not based on false religion, superstition or demonism. Logically therefore, this principle MUST APPLY to all situations where someone is celebrating a custom SOLELY for the pleasure of it, just as the person erecting a wind chime is doing so purely for the pleasure it gives. The WT says:
>>..it is the custom in some countries to put up wind chimes with the thought that they will keep evil spirits from entering the home. Obviously, a Christian would not make use of wind chimes for such a purpose. So if there is such a superstitious belief in one’s country, or community, it would not be wise to have a wind chime in the home. Thus no one will be stumbled or given the impression that Jehovah’s Witnesses make use of wind chimes for some unscriptural purpose.—1 Cor. 10:31-33. -
